Inner Groove — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026 · Data controller: Andrea Breda — donbreda4@gmail.com · Italiano

In short

Inner Groove collects no data. There is no account to create, no app server your data is sent to, and the person who wrote the app cannot see your collection. The app contains no advertising, trackers, analytics or third-party libraries.

Data stored on the device

Records, covers, tracklists, plays, rooms and furniture live in the app's store, on your device. If iCloud is on for Inner Groove, the same data syncs between your devices through the private database of your Apple Account: an area only you can access, and the data controller cannot. You can turn syncing off from system settings at any time.

Online search

When you search for a record by title, artist or barcode, or ask to complete its data, the app queries MusicBrainz (musicbrainz.org), run by the MetaBrainz Foundation. Covers are never downloaded from the Internet: they are only the photos you take. The request contains only the text or code you are searching for: no identifier of yours or of the device, and nothing from your collection. As with any Internet connection, that service sees your IP address and handles it under its own policy. Without online search the app still works: records can be typed in by hand.

Permissions

Camera and photo library are used only when you choose to: to read a record's barcode or photograph its cover. The photo is resized and saved with the rest of the app's data, without being uploaded anywhere. Recognising title and artist from the photo happens on the device, with Apple's tools: the photo never leaves it. Permissions can be denied without losing any other feature.

What goes through Apple

If you use syncing, data passes through iCloud and is subject to Apple's terms. Apple may give the developer aggregate, anonymous statistics on installs and crashes: they contain nothing about you or your records.

What we do NOT do

No personal data collected, no advertising identifier, no usage analytics, no profiling, no sale or sharing of data with anyone — because there is none to share.

Legal basis (GDPR)

Processing, limited entirely to your device and your personal iCloud space, is necessary to provide the service you request (Art. 6(1)(b) of EU Regulation 2016/679).

Retention and deletion

Data stays on the device while you use the app. Uninstalling it deletes the local data; the synced copy is removed from System Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage.

Your rights

With full local control of your data, you can view, edit and delete it directly in the app, and get it in a portable form from Settings, which exports a JSON file (full backup) and a CSV file (spreadsheet). Since there is no server-side processing, we hold no data to provide or delete on request. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

Children

The app contains no advertising, in-app purchases or content from other users, and collects no data. It is not directed at children.
